Overview:

anadha swami temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, located in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, India. The temple was built during the Pandya rule, in the 8th and 9th century A.D, with some additions in the 11th - 16th century and is one of the 108 Divyadesams (a sacred temple to Vishnu). The main deity of the temple is Vaidhyanadhan, a form of Vishnu, along with his consorts Rukmini, Sathyabama and his other avatars. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.

History:

The temple has five gopurams, all located in different levels. The four entrance towers (gopuram) stand tall at the four directions and the fifth one is located near the sanctum. There are two shrines, one dedicated to Lord Vishnu and the other to his consorts. There are also shrines for Sri Andal (a great devotee of Vishnu), and for Rama, Lakshmana, Sita and Hanuman.
