Tripurantesvara Temple In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
The temple is made up of white marble and the walls feature wood carvings, stone carving, and sculptures depicting the deities. The primary deity of the temple is Lord Shiva (in the form of Tripurantesvara) and his consort Parvati (in the form of Samavaramma) are placed adjacent to each other. Other deities that are worshiped in this temple are, Lord Narayana, Chandikesvara, Kaalabhairava, and Bhadrakali. The temple has two tall towers, one of which has nine stories and a hall around it. Tripurantesvara Temple This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent feature of the temple is the four-faced Shiva linga, which can be found inside the main shrine. The linga is believed to have been installed by four Rishis. The other noticeable feature of the temple is the massive Nandi statue placed at the entrance of the temple.The temple also has two large banyan trees near the entrance which are believed to be 2000 years old.
