Hall alias Gandhi Bhawan is a public building located in Patna, Bihar. It is owned and managed by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC). The Town Hall was opened to the public in 1951 and is a prominent landmark of Patna City. The Town Hall features a liberty hall, an auditorium, an auditorium stage and a display of busts of famous personalities from the world history. It is also used for several official and cultural events, such as the All India Kavi Sammelan, organized in 2015. The Town Hall was formerly known as the ‘Propaganda Hall’, since many revolutionaries like Maulana Abul Kalam Azad used it to propagate their ideas. However, in 1959 it was renamed as ‘Gandhi Bhawan’ after Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Patna. The building had many uses in the past, including hosting political and cultural meetings by eminent speakers like Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose. The Town Hall has a memorial hall in which a bust of Subhash Chandra Bose is installed in addition to the busts of other prominent personalities. The hall also houses a bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi representing his philosophy of non-violence.
