The Tomb of Alexander-Cosma de Koros is an Ancient Greek temple located in the sanctuary of Apollo at Bassae, in the Peloponnese, Greece. The tomb was designed by the architect Ictinus in the 5th century BC, and it is one of the most important monuments of the Classical period due to its innovative and highly advanced design. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The interesting features of the Tomb of Alexander-Cosma de Koros include the peristyle court which is surrounded by Corinthian order columns, and its shingled marble roof which rests on four central columns. The marble for the roof was quarried from nearby Mount Mycenae, and it is believed to have been built in dedication to a member of the local aristocracy at the time.
