Overview:
f Atgah Khan is a Mughal architecture style tomb located in the northern part of Delhi, India. The tomb was built in the first half of the 16th century. It is believed to contain the remains of Atagah Khan, Prime Minister in the court of the second Mughal Emperor, Humayun. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The tomb is situated in a rectangular enclosure, with the mausoleum built in the center. The tomb is raised high on a platform, approached by a flight of steps in the east, and is entirely constructed of dressed stone. The roof is fourfold and is topped off with a lotus shaped motif. -The tomb, located in a corner of Delhi’s Sadar Bazaar, is one of the earliest surviving Mughal tombs and is an important part of Delhi’s architectural heritage. -The domed roof of the tomb, which lends it its distinctive look, was once decorated with blue tiles.
