Overview:
mb of Afsar-wala is an important historical monument located in the district of Jhelum in Punjab, Pakistan. The tomb dates back to the 16th century, and is believed to have been constructed in honour of a famous Sufi scholar, Sheikh Afsar-wala. The tomb stands atop a raised platform and is enclosed by a large wall. The main structure of the tomb is made of baked brick and decorated with stone and plaster of lime. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The tomb is characterized by its grand entrance, a single opening arch set within a curved wall. The entrance is flanked on either side by two small gardens with trees and shrubs. Inside the tomb, a prayer chamber has been built with nine corners or turrets, each topped with a dome. The interior features intricate carvings, exquisite paintings and delicate stucco ornamentation. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
Interesting facts:
Despite its various renovations, the original plan of the tomb still remains intact. The tomb is also believed to have been blessed by several renowned Sufi saints, and may have been visited by Mughal Emperor Akbar and other emperors of the Mughal dynasty.
