Overview:
The Small sateway of fort is one of the oldest fortifications in the world, built by the Romans in the 2nd century AD to defend the outermost reaches of their empire. It is situated in the city of Aachen, Germany, close to the Belgian border. The fort is shaped like a half moon and is surrounded by three circular walls, each of which measures around 350m in diameter. The fort has a north-south and east-west gateways, as well as a central gate.
