Jama Masjid, Munger is one of the oldest mosques in India. It is located in the city of Munger, in the eastern Indian state of Bihar. According to historical accounts, it was built in 1086 AD by Delhi Sultan Mahammad Qutb-ud-Din Aibak. The mosque is also referred to as Madina Masjid by the locals. The gateway of the Jama Masjid is massive and features two stout towers built according to the rules of Islamic architecture. It has two entrances, each topped by an arched doorway and flanked by carved pillars. The main portion of the gateway is surmounted by four imposing minarets which can be seen from all over the town. The gateway is decorated with intricate terracotta tiles, glass inlay work along with geometric Islamic art patterns. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
