Overview:
Shergarh Fort is an ancient fort situated near the town of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is one of the most historically significant forts of India and is known for its grandeur. Built in the 17th century by Maharaja Sher Shah Suri, Shergarh Fort was used by the Marathas and later by the Mughals. The fort is now in ruins, but still, the fort holds a great historical significance. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The fort is surrounded by high wall all around, which is quite impressive and provides a great view. It also houses several historical monuments such as the gateways, mosques and various temples. The fort is divided into two parts, one for defence and one for residence. It has a large courtyard, several ponds and a few temples.
