Chika Masjid is a mosque located in the city of Jaipur, India. It was built in 1727 and is considered to be one of the oldest mosques in the city. It is located near the Ambedkar Circle in the Johari Bazar area of Jaipur. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Chika Masjid has a unique architecture and design which was popular during the Mughal period. It consists of a large prayer hall, a courtyard and several domes. The prayer hall is made of white marble and decorated with intricate floral carvings. The domes of the mosque have delicately carved stucco work. The mosque was built by Raja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727. He was the then ruler of Jaipur, who was also a diplomat and a patron of the arts. He was responsible for the construction of various religious buildings including the Chika Masjid. The mosque, however, underwent major renovations in the 19th century.
