Satmahala Temple is an ancient temple located in the town of Sawantwadi in Maharashtra, India. The ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the oldest and most venerated temples in the country. History:
The Satmahala temple is a combination of two Hindu architectural styles, the Dravidian style, and the Marathii style. The temple is known for its exquisite carvings and impressive stonework. The temple has a huge central structure which houses the shrines of Lord Vishnu, his consort Goddess Lakshmi and other Hindu gods and goddesses including Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The temple complex also has a beautiful pond with a natural spring and a Tulsi plant, which is believed to be holy. The Satmahala temple has a rich history and is believed to be one of the oldest temples in India. Historians believe that the temple was constructed during the period of the Shilahara Dynasty, around 1200 AD. The temple was later expanded by the ruler Chathrapati Shivaji Maharaj who added the Maratha style to the existing temple and made the shrine of Goddess Laxmi.
