The Narayanaswamy temple, dedicated to Lord Narayana and his consort Lakshmi is a Hindu temple situated in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. The temple was built in the 16th century and is believed to have been built by Achutappa Nayaka, a Vijayanagar King. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.

History:

The temple has a 55-feet high Rajagopuram in the east direction, and the entrance of the complex features yalis and stone elephants for protection. The temple complex holds several other shrines like Alwars, Durga and Chokkanathar, etc. The main deity of the temple is Lord Narayana, along with his consort Lakshmi, worshipped as Sri Ramanatha Perumal and Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka respectively.
