Overview:
h Baba Maghi Dass,vill.Chhintanwala, Nabha is a holy shrine in Patiala district of Punjab, India. It is located in a sparsely populated village called Chhintanwala. It is believed to be the final resting place of a renowned Sufi saint, Baba Maghi Dass. The shrine is revered and worshipped by devotees from far and near. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The shrine is a white structure with two levels. There is a large hall on the first floor, where the main shrine is situated and the second (upper) floor houses the sitting area for devotees. Various shrines are present in the four corners including the shrines of Guru Nanak, Baba Sheikh Farid and Baba Gurdas. A small library of religious books is also present. One of the historical monuments of India,it tells the story of a bygone era.
It is believed that Baba Maghi Dass arrived in Chhintanwala in the year 1811. He soon found favor among the people of the village and it is said that the people donated generously towards the building of the shrine. The shrine was completed in the year 1821.
