Overview:
Ruined fortress, Chankigarh is a ruined fortress located in the city of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is believed to have been first built by the Mughal Emperor Babur in the 16th century. The fortress is also known as the Hindu Kot, or the walled city of Peshawar. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The fortress is built of brick and brick-tiles, and consists of four bastions, and a high wall of 10 feet built to protect the city. Inside the fortress, there are several chambers and towers, the Amar Singh Gate and the Bhola Gate. There are also several religious sites like temples and shrines located inside the fortress. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

The fortress has many hidden stories and is believed to have been a safe haven for people during wars and political upheavals in the city.
