Brief History:

Qadri Masjid, located in the Basistha area of Guwahati in India, is a prayer house belonging to the Muslims of the city. Its foundation was laid in the year 1914 as a tribute to the teacher and reformationist, Hazrat Maulvi Khalil Ahmad Qadri. The Masjid premises also includes a tomb of the respected teacher. The imposing yellow building with its graceful minarets is a sight to behold and is situated beside the National Highway. The administrative body of the Qadri Masjid is the Anjuman-e-Qadri. The mosque is visited by many devotees on a regular basis and the weekly congregation has devotees coming from all around the city and other nearby regions. The Anjuman-e-Qadri looks after all the activities of the Mosque and also organizes functions on special occasions which are attended by people from all walks of life. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

Architecture:

Qadri Masjid is one of the most important mosques in the heart of Guwahati. Built in the late 19th century, the mosque is built in a traditional Mughal style and follows an Indo-Saracenic architectural style. The mosque is built with a red sandstone exterior with intricate geometric and floral motifs and pointed domes. The interior of the mosque is just as remarkable, featuring stunning marble, stucco tracery, and dazzling tile work. There are four domes on the roof of the mosque, along with a tall minaret, which is visible from a great distance. The main prayer hall of the mosque is surrounded by a wide veranda that has seven arched openings. This is supported by twelve slender wooden columns. The inner courtyard of the mosque has two ablution tanks with spouts for washing and performing ablutions before prayers. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

Qadri Masjid is located in Guwahati, India. It is open to the public from dawn until dusk. Visitors are welcome to visit the mosque during that time.
