Brief History:

Jama Masjid, Bhopal is a notable mosque situated in the heart of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh in India. It was built in the year 1971 and is the largest mosque in the city. It is renowned for its inspiring architecture which is based on the Mughal style and was built under the supervision of Nawab Shah Jahan Begum, the famous female ruler of Bhopal. The mosque is known for its two unique minarets which stand opposite each other and the grand entrance with three pinnacles, all of which are decorated with white marble. The mosque can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers and draw numerous visitors from across the country for their darshans. Along with its pleasant environment Jama Masjid, Bhopal also offers a variety of cultural programmes regularly. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

Architecture:

The Jama Masjid of Bhopal in India is a notable example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The mosque has two grand gates facing towards the Eidgah Maidan, while the grand entrance gate decorates the eastward elevation to the Jama Masjid. The mosque has four corner towers, the minarets are octagonal in shape and are almost 60 meters in height. The mosque also features fluted domes aptly placed on top of the mosque. The interior of the mosque holds the sanctum, adorned with stucco tracery. The Jama Masjid also has numerous balconies and columns with intricate patterns and geometrical designs. The walls and domes also display artwork depicting the elegance of Islamic architecture. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

Jama Masjid in Bhopal is open to visitors every day from 6:00 am to 7:30 pm. Visitors can also access the mosque from the nearby slopes and stairs. However, there is no specific timing for offering prayers. There are no entry fees for visitors. best mosque in the world.
