Overview:
The Old Lodi Bridge with approaches is located in Lodi, California, and is a historic bridge constructed in 1909. It was designed by engineer C.H. Purcell and built by Union Bridge Company of St. Louis. The bridge is 2,151 feet long and consists of a single-span truss superstructures over the Mokelumne River. The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is an important part of the history of California. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Old Lodi Bridge is an exceptional example of a historic bridge that includes a single-span truss superstructure, adorned with an ornamental open railing or balustrade. The substantial open railing balustrade is constructed of pressed steel and rises approximately three feet from the top of the truss. The truss is supported on two pierworks as well as substructures located on the east and west side of the river. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

The Old Lodi Bridge was built in 1909 in order to connect the communities of Lodi and Stockton. It replaced the ‘old wire bridge’ that was built in 1858 at the same location. The ‘old wire bridge’ was a single lane private toll bridge, and it was declared unsafe in 1908 due to severe damage caused by a flood and was demolished.
