lson (Or Kashmeri Gate) Cemetery is one of the oldest and most iconic cemeteries in Delhi, India. It is named after Brigadier-General John Nicholson, a British Army veteran who died in the First Anglo-Sikh War in 1857. The cemetery is also known as the 'Kashmeri Gate Cemetery' as it lies close to the north Kashmiri gate, a majestic red and white stone gate built by Mughal emperor Akbar Shah in the 16th century. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.

History:

The cemetery is spread across an area of 501 metres and contains a variety of monuments, mausoleums, and graves, including those of British and Irish forces personnel. It also contains the graves of many political and military personalities who lived in India before and during the British Raj.
