Navlakha temple is one of the popular and sacred temples of Indore. It is located on the bank of river Mohnsar and one of the most visited pilgrimage of the city. The temple is highly fortified and stands in four tier architecture and is built from stones. Navlakha temple is believed to be built by the Maratha king, Tukoji Rao Holkar, in the year 1813. It is considered as a symbol of power and glory of his reign. The temple is believed to be constructed on the site where Saint Narayana was believed to have excavated a number of idols in the 18th century. These idols are revered and worshipped even today at the Navlakha Temple.
