Kotwar Pahar, or “Hill of the Cut Stones,” is a megalithic archaeological site located in northern India in the state of Rajasthan, near the town of Barmer. The site was likely constructed over 2,500 years ago, during the pre-Indus period. It is one of the few archaeological sites of its kind in India and is possibly the largest and most impressive of its kind. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The site is made up of a large cluster of megalithic stones that were cut into various shapes, including circles and spirals, and placed in a specific pattern. Some of the stones also contain engravings. The site is believed to have been used by the locals of Barmer as a site of worship or as an astronomical observatory.
