The Temple of Ashtamata is an important Hindu temple located on the banks of the River Periyar in Thekkady, Kerala, India. It is dedicated to the eight matrikas (Goddesses) and enshrines their images. The temple is believed to have been built before the 12th century during the period when Kerala was under the rule of the Pandya Empire and was later restored by the kings of the Travancore and Cochin dynasties.
