Brief History:

is a 400-year-old mosque located in the old city of Hyderabad. It is one of the oldest and largest mosques in India. It was built by Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutub Shahi dynasty in 1617. The mosque is named after the holy city of Mecca (in present day Saudi Arabia). The mosque has a symmetrical architecture and is located near the Chowmahalla Palace. The mosque is made of granite, and has a large central hall supported by 15 arches. The four majestic arches on the main hall are believed to have been made from the stones of the original temple. The ceiling of the hall is decorated with intricate and intricate floral designs. The mosque also houses a large carpeted courtyard which is used for weekly prayers. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

Architecture:

Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad is a mesmerizing blend of Islamic and Hindu architecture built by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1617. The three arched facades have been carved from a single piece of granite, corresponding to the three arched entrances to the sacred mosque in Mecca, from where its name is derived. One of the oldest and most venerated mosques in Hyderabad, the building features walls lined with intricately carved stucco figures that depict stories from Hindu epics and inscriptions from the Quran. The central arch is larger than the two side ones and is exquisitely engraved with intricate floral patterns and verses from the Quran. Within the central dome of the mosque, the attention to detail is overwhelming, with intricate carvings in the form of stars that adorn the ceiling and walls. The high ceiling is designed in a traditional Islamic style with corner domes supported by numerous pillars of polished, shining black rocks. The vast open enclosure and the larger courtyard occupied by the mosque are crossed by two small streams of water, which further accentuate its mesmerizing beauty. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Mecca Masjid is located in the old city of Hyderabad, India. The closest airport to Mecca Masjid is the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), located about 28 kilometers (17 miles) north of the city center. To get to Mecca Masjid, you can take the metro or a bus from the airport. The closest bus stop is Secunderabad Station. From Secunderabad Station, you can take an auto rickshaw or a cab to reach Mecca Masjid.
