Lal Gumbad is a historic monument located in the city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh, India. The monument, which is also known by its popular name, the Red Gumbad, is a large red sandstone structure with a unique architectural style that stands out from its surroundings. It comprises of an octagonal structure around a large circular dome and four small domes at its corners. Built in the early 16th century, it was intended to be a place of worship by the Mughal King Babur, the founder of the Mughal empire. Overview:

The Lal Gumbad stands at a heightof around 40 feet, and is located in a large octagonal courtyard. The two-storeyed structure of the monument is divided into two sections - a ground floor and an upper floor. On entering the monument, one can see the ground floor, which is a large octagonal space, surrounded by arched walls. This space is enclosed within four small domes and a large, central dome at the top. The walls are ornamented with colourful tiles, and one can also see painted frescoes in the interiors of the building. The prominent features of the Lal Gumbad include its unique architectural style, its arched walls, four small domes, and a large central dome. Besides these, the monument also houses a few tombs of the Mughal dynasty. In addition, it also has two large cenotaphs, which are monuments built in memory of the deceased. One of these cenotaphs houses the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun, while the other holds the grave of Mirza Kamran, the uncle of Emperor Akbar.
