Overview:
Kalleswara Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Lepakshi in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the most important temples in Andhra Pradesh. The temple is a blend of South Indian architectural style and the Vijayanagara style. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple is 15 km away from Lepakshi and is an important pilgrimage site. It is known for its intricate carvings of the thousand hoods of Lord Shiva, constructed with huge boulders around the principal deity. There is also a massive Nandi bull of stone, which is facing the sanctum, and is believed to be one of the biggest in the world.
