wari Caves: Jogeshwari Caves, located in the western suburb of Mumbai in Jogeshwari, are a group of ancient rock-cut Buddhist monuments dating back to 520 CE. These caves served as a major place of worship for the Jains and Buddhists in the area in ancient times, and the carvings and sculptures here represent the exquisite artistry of the olden days. History:
The Jogeshwari Caves are home to some of the oldest rock-cut Hindu and Buddhist sculptures in India. The complex boasts of numerous impressive sculptures, mostly dedicated to various Hindu and Buddhist gods, including Shiva, Vishnu and Garuda. The most impressive sculptures in the complex are the images of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva seated in the same posture, signifying the unity of all gods. There are also an array of image sculptures of the Buddhist chaityas, which majestic and beautiful dome shape has been preserved until today.
