Overview:
g Shaha’s Tomb is a magnificent example of marble mausoleum situated in Mandu town of Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh, India. It was built in the middle of 15th century by Mahmud Shah, the forefather of Hoshang Shah, the first Shah of Malwa. The tomb is an extraordinary monument representing the architectural form of the famous Islamic architecture of Hindustan or India. It is surrounded by a splendid double-storeyed gateway, also built by Mahmud Shah, which makes this tomb prominent and even more beautiful. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The tall and magnificent structure of the Hoshang Shaha’s Tomb reveals the exceptional skill and talents of the craftsmen who built it. The main features of the tomb include a grand dome with a well-crafted fluted dome of 11 meters in internal diameter and 15 meters in external diameter. The windows are adorned with beautifully shaped lattice work. The walls of the monument are also decorated with intricate carving and figures. Inside the chamber, the grave of Hoshang Shah is beautifully crafted with various symbols of Islam written in colorful tilework.
