Overview:
kesvara Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Tiruvannamalai in the Tamil Nadu state of India. The temple was built by the Cholas during the 11th century and was later expanded by the Vijayanagara rulers. The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, and the temple is also known as the Arunachaleshvara Temple. Sri Arkesvara Temple - This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The main feature of this temple is the imposing Gopuram (temple tower), which stands at a height of over 100 feet. The main hall of the temple, called the Mahamandapam, is surrounded by a number of smaller shrines, including one dedicated to Nandi, the vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva. The main deity of the temple is a Lingam, an aniconic representation of Lord Shiva. There are also several ornate carvings and sculptures on the walls and pillars of the temple.
