Hirakota old Fort is an ancient fort located in the Indian state of Telangana near Warangal. The fort has been classifed as a nationally protected monument and is believed to have been originally built in the 14th century by Ravuj. The fort is made of huge stone walls that are 30 feet thick and 35 feet high in some places. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.

History:

The most impressive feature of the fort is two gateways, known as the Yadvi gateways, which were built by the rule of the Yadvi King, Dasharath. At the entrance to these two gateways is a massive chain linked with stone locks. Inside the fort are some old Hindu temples, specifically the Ganapathi and the Hanseswara temples, as well as several Buddhist sites. After the region was annexed by the Nizams in 1794, the fort was used to store arms and ammunition.
