Gosaipukhuri Ruins is an ancient site located in the west of Guwahati city in the Indian state of Assam. It is believed to be a 1000-year old pond and was filled with water during the days of the Ahom dynasty. The site consists of an ancient tank, ruins of a fort and a temple. The ruins provide an insight into Assam’s rich archaeological heritage. Gosaipukhuri Ruins This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The ruins of Gosaipukhuri comprise of an ancient tank, a fort and a temple. The fort walls and the temple ruins shed light into the lifestyle of the Ahom dynasty and are quite impressive.
