Dilawar Khan's Masjid is a historically significant mosque located in the Indian city of Junagadh. It is believed to have been built by Dilawar Khan, a powerful nobleman of the time. This mosque, constructed around the late Fifteenth Century, was part of a larger complex that also included a palace-fortress and a large hall. History:
The mosque is located in the heart of the walled town of Junagadh and is an impressive architectural structure made of stone with two gateways and two domes. The central gateway is elaborately carved with Islamic mihrab motifs and has a number of intricate engravings. Inside, the mosque has a large prayer hall with a high prayer niche on its east wall. The walls of this prayer hall are beautifully ornamented with stone carvings depicting Islamic vegetable and floral motifs. The mosque also features a distinctive architectural arrangement of columns, with two columns at the front, two columns at the sides, and four columns at the back. Over the centuries, the mosque suffered the ravages of time, with the mihrab and several other portions of the building being destroyed in the 19th century during a Maratha invasion.
