Darshani Gate In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Darshani Gate is the majestic entrance to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. It is a stately five-storied archway, measuring 35 feet in length, 25 feet in width and 76 feet in height. Every side of the gate is decorated with religious symbols like various deities, flowers and geometric patterns. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent feature of the Darshani Gate is its impressive five-storied structure. It is the largest gateway in North India and the only one of its kind. The upper floors of the gate contain two large domes and are adorned with fine artwork. The main door is of wood and is intricately carved with woodwork, depicting scenes from the life of Guru Nanak.
