Haldighati In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Haldighati is surrounded by the Aravalli Range and is a major natural pass between the eastern and western parts of Rajasthan. The pass acts as a gateway between Mewar and Marwar and connects the cities of Udaipur and Chittorgarh. The area around the pass is mostly arid and dry, although the mountain slopes are covered with shrubs and vegetation. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Haldighati is home to a memory stone commemorating the battle of Haldighati. The memorial was built by the government of Rajasthan. Atop the pass, there is a beautiful statue of Maharana Pratap on a horse. There is also a pagoda built in remembrance of Chetak, Maharana Pratap's horse. Interesting facts:
The famous poem "Mahendra keri Rag" by Vinayak Sharma Kavi is based on the battle of Haldighati. The mountain pass is also featured in the Indian epic of Mahabharata as the entrance to Matsya, a kingdom in the Mahabharata.Visit one of the famous monuments of India with your friends and family.
