Overview:
Bibi Masjid is a beautiful four-century-old edifice of historical importance, located in the city of Hyderabad, India. It is believed to be one of the oldest surviving mosques in the city. It stands out due to its striking white walls and four minarets, each of which is about 70 feet tall. It was built by the Kakatiya dynasty that ruled the region between 1180 CE and 1323 CE and is known for its Indo-Islamic architecture. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The mosque has striking ornamental domes and a spectacularly designed entrance gate. Inside the mosque, there is a beautiful Persian-styled pool, which holds special significance for the devotees of the place. Around the pool, you will also find four minarets, each one about 70 feet high. The interiors of the mosque are decorated with elaborate designs, wall paintings, and scriptures written in calligraphy. The mosque is believed to have been built in 1694 CE by a lady saint named Bibi Ka Maqbara.
