The church was born in the early 1990s when Pastor Ma'afu, his wife and their three children left their island home of ‘Eua to settle in Nuku'alofa. Today, Tuvu Church is a vibrant, multicultural worshipping community, made up of Tongans, Americans, Europeans, and people from other nations. History:

Pastor Ma'afu and his family moved to Nuku'alofa in 1990 and lightly established the church on a small piece of land they bought. His vision was to provide a place where people of all cultures and backgrounds can come together and share their faith. Over the years, the church grew, especially through the vision and energy of Pastor Ma'afu. In 2012, the church was reconstructed on the same piece of land, increasing its capacity and making it a place of refuge for many seeking spiritual and physical healing in the local community.
