The St. John Bosco Parish - Makoi was established in 1971 and the first parish priest was Rev. Fr. Peter Anariki. In 1987, Rev. Fr. Suliaso Sema was appointed as the parish priest and he initiated a building program which saw a new church, hall, rectory and other new developments. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Fiji.
