Mérian was inspired to create the charity after working in Leprosy clinics in India and witnessing the poverty and deprivation faced by people and the common indifference of the local authorities in addressing it. The charity's mission has since become to actively provide assistance to the less fortunate and has formed a network of social solidarity in the French capital.
