FGCG was founded by Reverend Emmanual Chetty and Mrs. Chetty who sought to bring a Revival of the Holy Spirit within the Fiji Islands. By the mid-1970s, the church had spread to other islands, notably Nadi and Lautoka, as well as many other locations worldwide. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Fiji.
