Kodavere Church In Estonia is a Gothic Lutheran church, located in Kodavere Parish, in Jõgeva County in Estonia. The church was first mentioned in 1462 as a chapel. After becoming a parish church, it was damaged during the Livonian War in 1562-1582, however was restored soon after and still stands today. The tower was added at the end of the 17th century. The church is known for its iin-ground security system, which is unique in Estonia. It was built in the mid-16th century and was meant to protect against plagues. The church is also noted for its paintings, which cover nearly the entire church. Kodavere Church services include weddings, baptisms, prayers, Christmas and Easter services and other religious services. Many special occasions are celebrated annually such as the anniversary of the consecration of the church. It is also open for visitors throughout the year.
