Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord In Estonia: History,Facts, & Services
History:
The church was founded by Peter the Great in 1783 in order to serve as an Orthodox seminary for a large number of courses. It was designed in a classical Baroque style and was completed by 1785. From 1844 to 1884, the church was served as a parish and then it was added to the Tartu Diocese which is a part of the Estonian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate. The building was damaged during World War II and it was restored in 1998. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Estonia.
