St Mary and St John, Camp Hill was originally built as a chapel-of-ease of St Matthias, Park Hill. In 1822, it consisted of a simple rectangular church building, with a tower and spire added in 1867. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, additional galleries were added to the church. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.
