The Archbishop Makarios III Cultural Foundation (AM3CF) was founded in the Summer of 1982 and was named after Archbishop Makarios III, the leader of Cyprus during the Greek-Cypriot struggle for independence and the first President of the Republic of Cyprus. The AM3CF was established with the mission to promote the values of Archbishop Makarios, his ideals for a free and united Cyprus, and his commitment to inter-communal dialogue and peace. The AM3CF was established with the specific aim of promoting the defense and propagation of the principles of democratic and participatory governance, the protection of human rights and freedoms, and the development of education and culture in the Cyprus society. The key areas of activity are inter-communal dialogue, youth and democracy projects, culture arts and heritage activities, and humanitarian assistance.
