New Life Baptist Church was founded in 1992 by Dr. J.R. Phillips and first started meeting in his living room. After seeing his small congregation grow, he and some of the members of the church began the search for a suitable building. The church moved into its first building in 1994, a former elementary school, which they renovated and adapted into a church.
