History:

is approximately 200 years old and was founded by Lama Ngawang Loday in 1821. It is located in Trashiyangtse District, Eastern Bhutan.This Dzong is a fortress that is located at the confluence of the Kholong and Kurichu Rivers. Trashiyangtse Dzong is the administrative and spiritual center of Trashiyangtse District in Bhutan. The district was announced in 1992 from a portion of Trashigang district. The main and initial entry gate of the district is called the Thimphu Chorten. The dzong consists of three main components: a two-story main temple, a four-storey Trashi Yangtse Dzong and a one-storey kasho. The dzong was declared a national landmark by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo in 2008. It was built in 1658 by the Third Druk Desi Sherab Wangchuk. Trashiyangtse is the state site for archery in Bhutan. The Archery Ground of the dzong is the venue for all major tournaments of the sport held in the district. Other than being an important cultural and religious site, Trashiyangtse is home to many attractions.
