History:

is approximately 200 years old and was founded by Lama Ngawang Loday in 1821. Trashiyangtse Dzong is the administrative and spiritual center of Trashiyangtse District in Bhutan. The district was announced in 1992 from a portion of Trashigang district. The main and initial entry gate of the district is called the Thimphu Chorten. The dzong consists of three main components: a two-story main temple, a four-storey Trashi Yangtse Dzong and a one-storey kasho. The dzong was declared a national landmark by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo in 2008. It was built in 1658 by the Third Druk Desi Sherab Wangchuk.
