Worship Method:
The worship method of Takti Tsho Monastery (also known as Tashi Tsho or Jampel Chholing Monastery) in Bumthang, Bhutan, follows a unique combination of two forms of Buddhism—Bon-Tantric or Dzong, and Nyingmapa Tantric. This specific form of worship is known as Tuntro, which means ‘the practice of ritual mastery.’ This is primarily conducted through the practice of chanting, as the monks of the monastery traditionally chant the sacred verses of Padmasambhava, who established the Nyingmapa Buddhism in Bhutan. The chanting of mantras, prayers, and other invocations is traditionally done with drums, cymbals, and other instruments. The worship also involves meditation and silent contemplation as monks focus their attention on the cosmic energy fields that encompass the monastery. Through visualizations, monks affirm the power of the sacred, invisible elements in the Universe and contemplate its nature and origin. The ritual of offering and dedication to the enlightened masters and the visualizations of realized states of consciousness are also included in the practice of Tuntro at Takti Tsho Monastery. Finally, the practice of Tuntro includes the traditional practice of applying the consecrated body texts to oneself. Through the application of such texts, monks are said to receive the blessings of the enlightened masters and their divine energies. This tradition is believed to give rise to an inner peace that allows them to remain connected with the enlightened masters throughout their life. This most visited temple in Bhutan
