History:

is a sacred Buddhist temple located in Mongar Dzongkhag in eastern Bhutan. The temple is believed to have been built by the 14th century Buddhist master and treasure-revealer Pema Lingpa, who is recognized as one of the five great treasure revealers in Bhutanese history. The temple is a three-storey building with five small temples and a statue of Pema Lingpa. The temple is home to several deities, such as Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, Guru Rinpoche, Tshewang Chador and the Eighth Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje. The temple is known for its ‘Lhamo’ (or mask dances), which take place during religious ceremonies. The annual festival of the temple is known as the Khengchen Tsemo, or Monlam and takes place on the 15th day of the first month of the Bhutanese calendar.
