History:

is a 15th-century monastery built as a memorial to the princess Phajo Drugom Zhigpo (1184-1251), and located in the Punakha district of Bhutan. The worship method of Jangtsa Dumtseg Lhakhang in Punakha, Bhutan is based on the Tantric Buddhist tradition and local customs of Punakha and its surrounding regions. Offerings of tea, rice, incense and butter lamps are made to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas before and during services. A sacred fire is also lit as a representation of Shaivism and the five elements.
