Svyato-Troitskaya Tserkov' (The Church of the Holy Trinity) is a Russian Orthodox church located in St. Petersburg, Russia. The church was built between 1708 and 1732 and is a masterpiece of the Baroque style in Russian architecture. Its dome is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, and it is a popular tourist destination. The main body of the church is made of red brick, and its exterior and interior are decorated with ornate golden decorations and frescoes. It is one of the best churches in Belarus which you must visit.

History:

The first stone of the church was laid by Tsar Peter the Great’s daughter, Elizaveta Petrovna in 1708. The church’s construction was funded by his son, Tsar Peter II. The original design of the church was created by Domenico Trezzini, and it was later modified by Bartolomeo Rastrelli and other architects. Construction of the church was finished in 1732, and it was consecrated by Metropolitan Symeon of St. Petersburg on October 8, 1732. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Belarus.

Svyato-Troitskaya Tserkov' is one of the tallest churches in St. Petersburg and stands at 107 meters; its facade stands at 73 meters. It has six cupolas, which symbolize Christ, the Virgin Mary and the four Evangelists. The dome of the Church is adorned with two gold-plated figures of the four Evangelists, while the walls of the church hold the symbols of the four Evangelists; Angels, a Trumpet, a Lion and a Bull. Along with the main icons, the church holds other holy artifacts, such as the relics of St. Andrew.
