History:

The Shrine of Sviatapolk-Mirski was first built in 1148 by Kniaz Roman Mstislavich and dedicated to Saint Sviatapolk-Mirski, the ruler of the pagan Drevlyans who was miraculously converted to Christianity through a dream. The church building has undergone many reconstructions and renovations over the centuries, with some of its impressive frescoes and iconostasis being preserved intact. The name “Petro-Mirskiy” was given to the Shrine in the 16th century, when the Ukrainian saint, Metropolitan Petro Mohyla, donated a golden icon of the Virgin Mary to the shrine.
