The Salahuddin Shah Mosque in Sonargaon, Bangladesh is a 16th-century mosque and one of the oldest surviving examples of Mughal architecture in Bangladesh. Constructed during the reign of Mughal emperor Jahangir in 1611 CE, it is a two-storey brick building with an octagonal central dome surrounded by four smaller domes. The facade is embellished with stone detailing and stucco decorations. The mosque has a total of five entrances on its north and south sides. Each side is decorated with a long arched iwan (vaulted hall) with sunken panels, crenellations, and a series of ornamental niches. Inside, the prayer hall has nine mihrabs (niches in the wall that indicate the direction of Mecca) and is surrounded by stone screens decorated with floral and arabesque designs.
