Architecture:

The Adamdighi Jame Mosque of Bogra in Bangladesh is a two-storeyed, pitched roof, and single domed mosque of traditional Bengal style construction. Its construction was completed in 1618. The mosque is built on a raised platform of 1.2 m and stands 15 m x 13 m. The main chamber (Mihrab) is lined by a low wall entablature with three arches over three mihrabs, with cusped tall frames and its walls contain three panels of terracotta inscribed with Quranic verses. On each side there is a wide doorway.The floor is covered with black and white tiles. The roof of the mosque is made of pitch composition and a large patterned dome is placed on the top. Over the panels, there are ornate decorated Quranic verses inscribed by white lines on a black background. On the complex, the mosque is accompanied by 12 smaller domes and two small minarets in each corner. The outer walls are highly decorated by terracotta and small mouldings, and the entrance to the mosque was further highlighted with an ornamental royal stand. The Adamdighi Jame Mosque is considered as one of the oldest surviving monuments in Bangladesh.
